I am ecstatic about my new cleanser. I look forward to each cleansing with Earth, Oats & Honey as a sensual beauty ritual. And I can barely believe my skin. My face (and anywhere else) gets meticulously clean without feeling in the least stripped or dry. It feels soft more than on just the surface, but deeply soft - that's the best way I can put it - and it looks glowy, refined and healthy.

Go with your mood and needs - use Earth, Oats & Honey as a very gentle, softening and moisturizing cleanser; massage it as a super-comfy, skin-clarifying scrub; caress your skin with a masque...anyway you use it, I think you'll love the results.

I grind whole, organically grown oats (called oat groats) with organic nuts, seeds and various goodies for a very comfortably applied, soft scrub. This cleanser delivers the goodness and energies of live, whole foods, beautifying herbs, nutrients, the best clay in the world (more about it below), and other gentle but effective ingredients. The resulting concoction smells and feels heavenly! This definitely places facial cleansing high above the humdrum.

Here is some info on oats. Protein-rich oats are to me amongst the royalty of skin and body care foods. Oats are extremely soothing and nourishing, whether they be the seed or grasses...wonderful for rashes and inflammations and to soften skin. When eaten, throughout the body they tend to ease spasms, cool and calm inflammation. They are strengthening, promoting a strong nervous system and helping us create a very productive endocrine system. They have long been known as love potions yet are not aphrodisiac per se (themselves). Rather, they help by strengthening the heart and circulatory system, enlivening the nerves, juicing up the hormones and calming the nerves. (The expression, "feeling my oats," came from experience.) If you think "strength and pliancy," you'll get it. Strong bones and flesh (oats help increase bone and muscle mass), strong, receptive nerves, calm and strong heart (they help clear the arteries of cholesterol deposits, help tighten and re-elasticize the veins) - oats are wonderful to eat, by the way, for varicose veins and hemorrhoids — or add them to your bath. (Boil some in water, soak well, strain into the tub water, relax and soak in the goodness.) Oats help make the body rugged, receptive to sensation and youthful. And, just as a fun info tidbit, I have read that oats are used in magic prosperity spells. I know that there's valid data against eating too many carbohydrates but firmly hold to the value of oats. For skin care, their prodigious powers place them with a few other luminaries at the tippy top of my list.

The clay I use is calcium bentonite - the purest, the most absorptive and most potently healing clay in the world. It is from a desert deposit that has been undisturbed and sealed off by a layer of zeolite crystal for 43,000,000 years! Uncontaminated for the millenia, protected from the elements and leaching or contamination, this looks to be the purest, most powerfully detoxifying clay anywhere.

A bit more about the clay, because it is so very special. Calcium bentonite clay is unsurpassed for both adsorption and absorption. I'll clarify these two processes. Adsorption occurs when positively charged particles of something combine with the negatively charged particles on the clay's surface. Molecules of toxins, bacteria and the host of other impurities in and on our bodies have a positive charge, so they're attracted to the surface of the clay. Ionic bonding occurs: a molecular square dance of sorts, in which clay mineral negative ions are exchanged for the positive ions of the toxic substances. Absorption is a deeper action that takes place more slowly, which is one reason why using Earth, Oats & Honey as a masque now and then will reap its own greater rewards. During absorption, the clay swells as it pulls toxins and impurities literally into its internal molecular structure. But, while yucky stuff gets absorbed, nutrients (these are negatively charged) are left in the skin. Nature...how wonderful.

Another reason to indulge in an occasional masque treatment with Earth, Oats & Honey is that you'll want to soak the skin a bit longer in its anti-oxidants and whole-food nutrients. Ground whole oats, honey, green tea, pumpkin seeds, almonds, totally natural vitamins E, A and others as well as powerful anti-oxidants, palm butter (nature's highest source of tocotrienols - high-potency vitamin E - and betacarotene), hydrosols beautifying to any skin type, particularly to sensitive....mmmm, a scrumptious feast for a hungry complexion.

The scent of Earth, Oats & Honey? mildly sweet and warm, inviting. It reminds me of apricots, though I'm not sure how that happened.
